Auckland celebrates its finest automotive professionals

Over 320 MTA members and industry participants attended the Century Yuasa/MTA Auckland Branch 2011 SUPER Awards on Saturday 3 September to recognise Auckland’s best motor industry professionals.

Held at the Bruce Mason Theatre on Auckland’s North Shore, the annual awards are voted by the motoring public, with final judging being carried out by a panel of experienced, local motor industry specialists.

The awards recognise industry best practice across a number of automotive sectors and celebrate the outstanding achievements in the motor industry from the Auckland region. 16 different category awards were presented during the evening.

"It was a great night, not just for MTA but the wider automotive industry" said Graham Barr, Auckland Branch President and one of the event organisers.

"We attracted a high number of attendees from across the Auckland region and it was good to see awards shared amongst the larger franchise operators, right down to small workshops.”

The Judges Choice went to Evan European Panel & Paint in Church Street, Onehunga. Although the Evans family weren’t able to attend the awards evening, as they were supporting their son Mitch Evans who is racing in Europe, they were kept informed through text messages from awards attendees during the evening.

Motorsport commentator, Jamie McCarthy, was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and told the audience that the judging panel were impressed by the high standard of all 50 nominees. Special guests included New Zealand motorsport star, Greg Murphy and National MP, Tau Henare.
