Re-Invigorated Bargwanna Ready for Clipsal

After a year in the V8 Supercar wilderness Sprint Gas Racing’s Jason Bargwanna can not wait for the start of this week’s Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide.

Forced to sit out the 2008 season when his former team – WPS Racing - folded prior to the start of last year’s Clipsal 500, Bargwanna is eagerly awaiting the start of the new season.

“Friday can not come soon enough, I can’t wait to get in the car and hit the track,” Bargwanna said.

“I’m like a kid approaching Christmas, those final couple of days beforehand are agonising. As a kid you just want to open your presents. I’m lucky, I know what I’m getting - a drive in a V8 Supercar at one of the best events of the year.”

Bargwanna believes the annual Clipsal 500 is the best way to start off a new season.

“Clipsal is a first class event, the organisers do a superb job each year, you couldn’t start the season off in a better way”, Bargwanna said.

“Every year the event gets better. Better for the teams and better for the fans.

“The new pit complex looks brilliant, it obviously caters to everyone.

“Normally changes to a circuit impacts corporates, media and teams but organisers are looking after the true fans of the sport by putting shading over the grandstands. It’s not something they had to do, but they did it anyway – I congratulate everyone concerned.

"They (the promoter) obviously listen to what the fans are saying, which is why the event gets bigger and bigger each year.”

With everything at the event in place, Bargwanna said it is now up to him and Sprint Gas Racing.

“I’m armed with a fantastic Sprint Gas Racing Holden and I’m ready to stir things up a little,” Bargwanna said.

“The recent two day test was a great way to start the season. We had a big programme to get through. By the end of the test we found some grip, improved the balance and were able to punch out some very competitive times. We well and truly held our own against the top teams.
