Podium for Halliday
and Third in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup series
Matt Halliday is currently third in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup series after two of the eleven rounds were raced over the weekend as support events to the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix.
Halliday finished third in race one and eighth in the second while Jeroen Bleekemolen won both races and leads the series.
The first race was not without controversy and Halliday was in the middle of it.
Going into the first corner on lap one Halliday was late on the brakes and hit team mate Richard Westbrook, spinning the Englishman around and dropping him down the field.
“All I can do is to apologize on thousand times”, says Halliday. “This was the worst case that could happen, especially when it deals with the team mate.”
Halliday, being the best of the Supercup rookies, finished third, but afterward had to report to race stewards and will be 'under observation' for the second race.
The winner of the race was Jeroen Bleekemolen, the current reigning champion.
