Our History
Established in 1917, MTA has developed from a small organisation to become the largest automotive industry body in New Zealand, representing over 3,800 automotive businesses and acting as a strong advocate for motorists.

Buyer beware of flood damaged vehicles in private sales
(2 February 2023). Aucklanders and people in Northern regions looking to buy a second-hand car through a private sale should get the vehicle thoroughly checked by a professional, the Motor Trade Association (MTA) says.
The warning comes after thousands of vehicles were caught in this week’s devastating flooding.
